January is School Board Recognition Month, and Mansfield ISD is proud to honor the public school advocates who serve on the MISD Board of Trustees.
Mansfield ISD’s school board is comprised of seven elected members who volunteer their time to ensure MISD students receive the best education possible.
The members of the MISD school board are:
- Raul Gonzalez (President), Place 4
- Karen Marcucci (Vice President), Place 5
- Courtney Lackey Wilson (Secretary), Place 7
- Michelle Newsom, Place 1
- Beth Light, Place 2
- Sandra Vatthauer, Place 3
- Darrell Sneed, Place 6
The trustees play a major role in setting the vision and policy for the district. They carefully oversee a multi-million dollar annual budget for more than 35,000 students, more than 4,000 employees and 45 schools.
“We’re very fortunate to have a school board that works hard to ensure our students receive a quality education with several college-and-career ready opportunities, all while remaining fiscally responsible,” said Superintendent Dr. Jim Vaszauskas. “On behalf of Mansfield ISD, I sincerely thank the school board members for their willingness and enthusiasm to serve our community.”
Throughout the month, some MISD campuses will be treating the school board members to a day of fun and appreciation. View more information about the MISD school board here.
